crazy rich
Manila, 26 August—This week was a good week for watching Asian things! I hope you've had the chance to catch Crazy Rich Asians at the cinemas—what a fun movie! Enjoyed it immensely, from the visuals, to the scoring, to Ken Jeong and Awkwafina being nuts together. Also: Naexplain na finally bakit may dahon-dahon yung mga na-release na movie stills ni Kris Aquino.
Walang basagan ng trip. HAHAHA. Kris Aquino as Princess Intan in Crazy Rich Asians.
Charmer: To All the Boys I've Loved Before (Netflix)
Based on a novel by Jenny Han.
Speaking of Asians on the screen: We also enjoyed watching To All the Boys I've Loved Before on Netflix, which is based on a novel of the same name written by Jenny Han. So damn cute like I can't believe. The Atlantic says it breathes new life into an old favorite trope (fake dating!!! ugh SOLD)
Catch it on Netflix
While We Were Angry
What we were angry at this week, and everything else after
Rice wastage. So while we were angry at the PNP's 'misreading' of Naga's crime rate, or the Marcoses forcing people to "move on" from the atrocities of martial law and the Marcos regime, the National Food Authority now has to explain why P6-billion worth of imported rice have been infested with weevils and are now sitting at the ports. Rice prices have been steadily increasing, so we can't really afford wasting rice, can we?
A tale of two pleas: A Quezon City court allowed Maguindanao massacresuspected mastermind Zaldy Ampatuan to leave jail to attend the wedding of his daughter, whereas the Supreme Court denied Sen. Leila de Lima's appeal to join debates on the country's withdrawal from the International Criminal Court. Let me be clear about that: Ampatuan is on trial for the massacre of FIFTY EIGHT PEOPLE. Sen. de Lima is in jail for being vocal against the President's drug war. Talk about priorities. Or wait: Talk about the wedding guest list.
Mon Tulfo is an asshole. He himself called his hospital episode a tantrum. He's feeling so called out by a younger more sober columnist that he had to write about his feelings. Boo-hoo, etc etc but ALSO: He is also being considered by PDP-Laban to be on its Senate slate in 2019. Basura. Huwag iboto.
What were you angry at this week? Let's be mad together.
