capricorn season
Manila, 20 December—Feels like I haven’t been on here since forever. Been spending the last handful of weeks trying to tear through my Strama paper—which I had just turned in earlier this week. It’s been a gruelling term, and I truly miss writing anything for leisure! Haha. Here I am then, whispering into the void.
It’s shaping up to be one of the quieter Christmases—can you believe that 20 days in, I still haven’t gone to an all-nighter, unli-booze party? Indeed, much has changed between the everyday parties of 2010 and this year’s quiet stretch of pre-Christmas days—and perhaps I’ve made my peace with that, hehe.
This is not to say the first two weeks of December have been gentle—they certainly have not haha. We tuned into the SEA Games, covered a few partnerships, hung out at the airport, went to New Clark City and back, and in the nights thereafter I of course still had that paper to write.
I just want to say I am so glad I am not writing that paper anymore, because it made me feel guilty about writing anything else, outside of it and work (haha). Writer’s guilt is weird like that I suppose, and I guess it gets more intense with age because the words dwindle, you know.
ANYWAY. Some things we enjoyed this December:
The country’s national eSports team Sibol performed really well at the SEA Games. #LakadMatatag! We were so invested in the Mobile Legends competitions, and we thoroughly enjoyed their finals match with Indonesia. (Full recap here)
Totally late to the Frozen 2 party—thank God I still managed to catch it in the theaters! Sa sobrang late ko, Sing-Along editions na yung nasa sinehan haha. It was quite enjoyable as expected, and so. damn. gay. So: Are you an Into The Unknown gay or a Show Yourself gay?
That Evan Rachel Wood duet part totally killed me. Sabi pa nga: Okay, Elsa has finally worked through her mommy issues! Pwede na siyang magka-girlfriend sa sunod na installment LOLLL. (Sorry, there is no heterosexual reading for the lyric, I’m sorry secret siren. EXCUSE ME, I’M SORRY SECRET SIREN???)
Also: I want exactly one (1) fire salamander. (His name is Bruni! Can you handle this knowledge???)
We are watching with great caution (LOL) the reboot of The L Word. C and I are treating it as… an inter-generational activity. Hahaha. We’ve so far watched the pilot. We’re reserving comments until further viewing HAHAHA. Let me just say though, just to get it out of the way: I missed those three women! Watching the pilot felt a lot like catching up with old friends—oh, you’re running for office? You boned a former employee? Why is your show’s logo like that? Wait—You got married??? But you left Carmen at the altar! Etc. Dani feels like a massive, massive self-insert, and I’m not sure if I like her, but she’s a woman of color wearing a power suit. Tao lang ako guys.
What else is everybody playing on their Switch? We’re playing Overcooked 2 and as two lesbians who cannot cook—well. Haha. It has horrible puns and I’m all for it.
Anyway, that’s me so far for December. How about you? Hope your vacation is going great.
Happy holidays! xo,
K.
